Not sure whether this is because I grew up reading a lot of Astrid Lindgren books and totally hooked on the Swedish children's series Alla vi barn i Bullerbyn, or because most designers have a love for Scandinavia anyway, but I have a thing for Swedish design and follow a lot of Swedish design blogs.

Right now all those blogs feature an apparently very Scandinavian phenomenon: As soon as the first rays of sunshine reach the North, it appears as if this whole part of Europe collectively packs up their things to move into their 'Sommarhus' (Summer cabin) for a summer of design-approved fun.

I know not everybody up North owns a summerhouse, but judging by the amount of very stylish summer-get-aways featured on the various blogs I follow, it's an absolute must for the hip and happy few.

With the current weather in the Northern parts of Europe (rain, anyone?), I can definitely use a bit of summer dreaming involving wooden cabins, sunshine and freshly picked wild flowers, so here's a bit of Sommarhus-inspiration from a few of my favourite blogs:
