Three Nations Blog

A few weeks ago I discovered this blog by Australian/Croatian/Dutch paper artist Marsha Golemac.

I love how seemingly effortless Marsha turns ordinary scraps of paper into colourful paper delights, and how she shares her passion with others, both via her blog as well as by organizing workshops.

A few of her projects:

Check out Three Nations Blog for more work, upcoming events and photographs of her travels.

Somewhat related:
Unfortunately I don't have an Ipad (yet), but once I do, I'll definitely download the Foldify App, which makes making paper art so easy it kinda feels like cheating.

New year, new calendar

Lately I have been thinking about getting a wall calendar for the home.

Not that we would desperately need one; our online calendar works just fine, but something on the wall as a tactile reminder of the passing of time would be nice.

Maybe one of these:

Year Calendar by Erik Olovsson - spotted here - get it here
Stendig Year Calendar by M. Vignelli in 1966 (!!) - get it here (US) or here (Europe)
The Vertical by MAKE Collaboration - get it here
Stitch the Stars Calendar by Heather Lins - spotted here - get it here

Ho ho ho

Merry Christmas!

We'll be visiting family, eating. The usual.
Well... the usual, but so much more fun this year together with baby Xam.

T, Xam and I even have the first day of Christmas for ourselves.
I imagine we'll be watching a terribly cheesy Christmas-movie, drink hot chocolate, and do nothing.
Maybe -if we close the curtains- we can even imagine it being a white christmas...

Enjoy you holidays!

Post-pregnancy style post

Little one is almost 6 weeks, and I feel like I'm slowly getting my body back.

I'm pretty certain it will take a while (apparently it should be 9 months up to a year) before I'll be able to fit in all my clothes, and even then, some of the tinier skirts and dresses might be lost to me forever. At least my interest in fashion/style is slowly being rekindled.
Maybe it has something to do with having to resort to wearing pyjama pants for so many weeks, but I can't wait to be able to wear something nice again, to dress up a bit.

A few things:
1. Knotted leather belt by Rilleau leather (great story, check their website)

2. Bow Feather Headpiece by Maison Michel for Opening Ceremony
3. Neotribal Enamel Necklace by the Driftwood - get it here

Wall wishlist

One day I'll have my very own art wall.

Right now the art collection that would be presented stylishly on said wall is hardly a collection at all.
Worse still: the one vintage oil painting and three screen prints it consists of have been standing in a corner of our living room for the last few months, waiting to be mounted. T and I simply can't decide on what would be the best place to put them.
Meanwhile I continue to be inspired by jealous of all the art walls I see on the blogs I follow.
I need to get on with it, maybe get a few cool posters to get things started.

Ellens Album recently had a pretty good poster guide, check it out here.

A few posters I would like to have on my wall:

1. Fox/Bird by Kristine Mandsberg
2. Nr. 24 by Anne Nowak
3. ABCD Poster by Playtype
4. Tiger says meow! by RK Design (has been on my wishlist since forever...)

Things

Just in case we forget.

T and I are seriously stressing out.
Earlier this week we heard we have to move out of our house a lot sooner than anticipated. We had hoped to get the news the demolishing of the block would be postponed, since so many big projects in construction are being put on hold at the moment. Instead we got the short and sweet message we have to move before the end of March. Before March 27th, to be exact.

D*mn.

It's always difficult to find affordable living space in Amsterdam, but with a baby boy it will be even harder.

Not the kind of stress you would want to be in with a newborn in your household.

Í'm sure we'll make it work.
Eventually.
But how?
Right now I haven't got a clue.

Good ideas are welcome.

Treehouse getaway II: Cocoon tree bed

A treehouse to add to my list of Treehouse getaways (remember this post?):

Cocoon Tree bed by Cocoon Tree - spotted on Designboom

This mix between tent and treehouse is not so much something you would install in your backyard (unless your backyard is a tropical rainforest like in the picture above), but I could surely imagine myself dreaming away in it (the inside is one huge round bed) on a tropical beach like this:

Shipping to my front door: Dille & Kamille

Being pregnant and having a little baby basically kept me inside the house for the last two months. Not too convenient, with the Holidays just around the corner. In the Netherlands we actually celebrate 'Sinterklaas' around December 5th, so Holiday-gift-giving starts a little early.

Luckily for me there's the Web and its multitude of online shops, many of which deliver their goods to your house within two days, and without charging a whole lot for shipment.

For Sinterklaas I ordered a few of my presents from the Dutch store 'Dille & Kamille'.
Dille & Kamille sells all kinds of kitchen- and household ware made from 'original' materials: glass, steel, wood, ceramic. Basics mostly, those little things everyone uses, only prettier in kind of a good old fashioned way, and great for gift giving.

Unfortunately Dille&Kamille doesn't have a branch in my hometown of Amsterdam. Turns out I don't need to worry about that though, because it looks like the full collection is available in their online shop, and they ship within two days (only within the Netherlands and Belgium at the moment, but who knows...).

All items available at the Dille & Kamille webshop (in Dutch only)
