Making room for BB - SALE

This Saturday and Sunday, T and I will be selling a lot LOT of stuff at a monthly flea market here in Amsterdam (IJ-hallen).
All to make room (and money) for the little one.

Truth be told: most of the stuff we're selling is mine. It's the result of years and years of rummaging through thrift stores and antiques-shops, collecting all kinds of things that I could use for projects, or just found too beautiful to leave behind on a dusty shelf.
T refers to it as 'clutter', while I prefer the word 'forgotten treasures'.

Well, treasures or not, we needed to make room, and in my current pregnant state I somehow found it easier to get rid of a lot of things I would usually part with a lot more reluctantly.
What makes it easier: we agreed that most of the items left behind Sunday Afternoon will be donated to a local thrift store, but that I do get to keep the pieces that I really really like or think I could sell online. Let's hope we don't have to get into too big of an argument when we close shop this Sunday. ;-)

Here are a few of the items we'll have for sale:

If you see anything you fancy, send me a quick shout-out and I'll make sure to put it aside for you.

The IJ-Hallen flea-market is open this Saturday and Sunday (June 30 / July 1) from 09:00 till 16:30.
Entrance fee is € 4,-. Take the free NDSM-ferry from the Central Station to get to the site.

Let me know if you're planning on visiting 'the country's largest flea-market' this Week-end, I'd love to see you there (yes, of course you'll get a discount...).

Two moons

We might not have a full-moon in the sky today, but that's no reason to not want to wear one (two, actually) around your neck:

Dreamy-picture-land

I love photographs that make your mind drift into that dreamy nostalgic world of sunshine and pastel-colours.

A few months ago I featured the work of Matthias Heiderich, and now I'm mesmerized by the 'perfect summer day'-photographs by 'Ooh Pretty Shiny'.
Here are a few of the photographs available on Etsy:

Drifting off: Hot air balloons

It's summer!
Finally!

(kinda, at least: the calendar says so, the weather seems to be slowly adjusting)

Anyway: we can start looking out for hot-air-balloons again. An ultimate summer-feeling.

Photograph by Zila Longenecker, available through Etsy

I remember a time back when I was 7-ish, when a hot air balloon had to land in a field not far from our house. My parents allowed me to get out of bed for the occasion, and to even go out to the field -in my nightgown- to see the landing of the gigantic balloon.
The mixture of embarrassment for being out in nothing but a nightgown and the excitement of the balloon coming down, makes it one of my most vivid childhood-memories.

And up to this day, when I see a hot-air balloon, I have to point it out to T, who in his enthusiasm will arch his neck in several directions while driving -all the time keeping one eye on the road of course- to get a glimpse of it before it disappears after trees or buildings.

I love the archetypical shape and colours of hot-air balloons of the olden-days. Don't care so much for the flying advertisement-banners you -unfortunately- encounter mostly nowadays.

As always, the US does it bigger.
Below are some images from balloon-festivals all over the US.

My personal absolute favorite:

If I were to see one of those balloons flying in the wild, I would just tell T to park te car.

Lovely: Fumi Koike

Somehow I cannot find a word for the work of Japanese Illustration artist Fumi Koike other then 'lovely'.

Her illustrations have lovely colours, show a lovely uncomplicated view on the world and would be just lovely on the walls of my living room.

Setting the scene

Just because it's pretty.

And it's a Monday.

Even worse: it's the Monday after the Sunday before.

Safe to say: happiness has to be 'specially created today.

Colourful tartelettes by Emilie de Griottes

Last spring, French food magazine Fricote gave food designer Emilie de Griottes carte blanche for a project to be featured in the magazine.
And this is what she came up with:

Brilliant, had to add it to this scrapbook.

A pack for the back

For the last months I have been looking for a backpack for T.
I thought it shouldn't be too hard to find one that's both stylish and affordable, but even though there's an abundance of cool rucksacks all over the web, I don't seem to be able to find them in 'real life'.

Yes, I hear you, of course I could order on-line... but aside from the fact that most supercool bags I found thus far are also superexpensive, I am reluctant to order a backpack that I haven't been able to hold in my hands.

So... I am treating the web as my source of inspiration and will continue roaming the shopping streets in my quest to find T his perfect bag one day.
Here's my inspiration so far:
